Therapy FAQs
What can therapy help with?
Therapy can be helpful with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, trauma, identity issues, addiction and bereavement amongst others. I provide a safe, supportive and confidential environment where you can explore what has brought you to therapy and where you are in your life, offering space for reflection and personal growth. While initial reasons for seeking therapy will vary from client to client, I believe that therapy can support you in expanding your self-knowledge and help identify any blocks that may be getting in the way of enjoying life in a more fulfilling way.
How many sessions will I need?
The length of therapy will vary from client to client. Some clients might be looking for a short, focused course of counselling centred around a particular issue that might be troubling them. Others might be seeking to engage in long term, open ended work. I work in a collaborative way which means that from the outset we can explore together what might feel most appropriate.
Choice of therapist
A good match between client and therapist is important to foster trust, understanding, and open communication. Some discomfort and nervousness are to be expected at the beginning of therapeutic work but a sense of safety and of being understood is essential for therapy to be of help. My focus is on building a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship which facilitates exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe and confidential environment.
‘A different therapy must be constructed for each client, because each has a unique story’
